Allan Wright Kuhlman passed away peacefully on September 24, 2021 having succumbed to Covid-19.
Allan was born August 11, 1937 in Jamestown, North Dakota to Lloyd and Anna Kuhlmann. After graduating from Wimbledon High School Allan joined the Air Force. He was an Air Traffic Controller, spending 2 years at Yakota Air Force Base in Japan.
Returning to the states, he married the love of his life Ardis Walen on November 28, 1958
His successful working careers included farming, sales, college recruiting and a home building contractor within 4 states.
Parenting was a special skill of his. In addition to being a parent to his own children, Joel, Cindy, Julie, Leslie and Marie, he was a foster parent for over 50 years to approximately 80 foster children. Many of them have remained close and very special including Kimmy Sue.
Allan was known for his sense of humor. The one-liners reflected his engaging personality and positive attitude.
His lifelong passion for music began with a dance band “Al Kuhlman and the Rhythmnairs”. He continued singing in a barbershop quartet for residents at various care facilities. He later was active in the choir at Post Oak Methodist church in Camden, Tennessee.
Allan is survived by his wife Ardis, his children Julie Bartl, Leslie Frank, Marie (Troy) Bronson and Missy (Russel) Sculley, eight grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Also survived by his brother Lloyd (Becky) Kuhlmann.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son Joel and daughter Cindy.
